Russia is a model of cost-effective government

Editor: Russia is a model of corporate efficiency.

By studying the so-called police investigation into the assassination of Russia’s Boris Nemtsov, the American Mafia can learn a valuable lesson about the benefits of vertical integration.

If the Godfather was also the head of a well-regimented American government, the costs and risks of doing illicit business would be reduced considerably.

Legal situations could be controlled; fewer out-of-pocket bribes would have to be paid; the cost of heavy-handed enforcers, including their base salaries, assortment of vehicles, distinguished-looking uniforms and arsenal of modern weapons, would all be picked up by the long-suffering taxpayer.

All in all, it would be a sweet deal.
