Tone of seniors' meeting was disappointing

Board set agenda with motion for its removal. Dissidents did not want such a drastic step taken.

Editor: I was very disappointed at the tone of the special general meeting, held on Tuesday, May 26 at the Langley Seniors Centre.  I am one of the group of concerned members who questioned their actions that appeared to be non-compliant with the bylaws and constitution of the Langley Senior Resource Society.

According to the board, our concern for the centre put us into the category of being bullies for the rest of the meeting. We want the membership to know that our petition  “asked for a meeting to review the actions of the current board of directors, where set actions did not follow the bylaws as listed in the Senior Resource Society Constitution, dated Oct. 17, 1995, as well as review of staffing changes and iniquities during the last six months.”

However, the board called the meeting and set the agenda. We were very shocked that it proposed a resolution for the removal of the board. We did not ask for, nor did we want such a drastic step as they took.
