Union should have given teachers a vote on suspending picketing

I fail to see how the BCTF is doing anything to resolve this labour dispute other than to insist upon intransigency.

Editor: While I find myself increasingly frustrated and appalled by the lack of consistency in B.C. children’s education, I am more appalled by the gall of the B.C. Teachers’ Federation leadership.

They have denied their members the right to vote on whether to suspend picketing. It is arrogant and completely contrary to the spirit of collective bargaining to do so.

At this point, I fail to see how the BCTF is doing anything to resolve this labour dispute other than to insist upon intransigency, in order to admit its leadership deficits. My family and neighbours are disgusted by the BCTF’s arrogance and clear lack of support for students and teachers.
