Working for Fort Langley for 40 years

Many volunteers have worked hard to make Fort Langley a better place.

Editor: Re: letter by Eric Woodward, (The Times, Nov. 15).

A great many people love Fort Langley. I love Fort Langley. I work for Fort Langley 24/7 and have done so for over 40 years.

With other volunteers, we founded the Friends of the Fort. We built the Fort to Fort Trail. We built the kiosk for the Trans- Canada Trail; we moved and maintain the CN Station; we saved the cranberry bog from being Vancouver’s 640-acre dump; we run the community hall which serves the community well.

We help look after Derby Reach/Brae Island park; we built the Houston Trail; we built and run the tourist info kiosk; we help run May Day; and contribute many other services too numerous to mention.

Many people love Fort Langley and work for nothing, except the reward of keeping our village and its heritage maintained and preserved for our families and visitors.
