The Vancouver Stealth announced Wednesday that they have signed Cliff Smith to a one-year agreement, pending league approval.

In addition, the team announced captain Curtis Hodgson (lower body) has been moved to second level injured reserve list and Thomas Hoggarth (upper body) was placed on the injured reserve list – second level.

Smith returns to the club after missing the first several weeks pursuing a career in law enforcement. In 2016, he appeared in 11 games scoring four goals and five assists for nine points and had 53 loose balls.

The Surrey native will begin his eighth NLL season after being originally drafted in the first round (fourth overall) in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft by Colorado.

He was later acquired by the Stealth in a trade in 2011.

Smith has appeared in 100 career games with 75 goals, 107 assists and 182 points along with 193 loose balls.

“We are extremely happy that Cliff is able to rejoin the team at this time. He is an absolute warrior and a great leader,” Stealth president and general manager Doug Locker said. “He should once again be a great fit for our team. Cliff is another guy who can fill a variety of roles an we can’t wait to get him in our line up.”

Smith will join the team for this weekend’s back-to-backs, starting Friday Night in Saskatchewan and back home the following night when the Stealth host the Georgia Swarm.

Saturday’s game is the “Stealth Experience” night where any youth wearing a minor sports jersey will get into the Langley Events Centre for free with an accompanying adult.

After the game, Stealth players will invite fans onto the turf where they will be playing games, hosting demonstrations and signing autographs. Tickets are available at the Langley Events Centre Box Office at 604-882-8800, or Ticket Rocket.com.
