Aldergrove's Sarah Potomak top scorer at national women's U18 hockey championships

Youngest player on the B.C. roster nets six goals in five games

Aldergrove's Sarah Potomak was the top scorer at the U18 national hockey championships in Dawson Creek.

Aldergrove's Sarah Potomak was named the top forward at the 2012 national women's U18 hockey championships.

Potomak scored six goals and one assist in five games for B.C. to finish as the tournament's top scorer.

Potomak, who turns 15 next month, was the youngest player on the roster, which also featured Langley's Chelsea Wilson.

The tournament wrapped up on Nov. 11 in Dawson Creek. Team B.C. finished fourth.

"Sarah played with confidence above her years," said Team B.C. director of operations Nancy Wilson.

"She is a great young player (who) will only get better."

The U18 championships are for the female hockey players born in 1995 or later and it serves as a chance for Hockey Canada  to evaluate candidates for the national team which will compete at the 2013 IIHF U18 women's world championships this January in Finland.
