Langley U18 girls fastpitch team ends season as national champions

The Langley Xtreme 99 girls fastpitch team won the provincial championship over the weekend.

The Langley Xtreme shook off a 2-2 record in round-robin play to run the table in the playoff round, capturing the provincial gold medal.

The Xtreme 99 girls fastball team was competing in Sicamous over the weekend, defeating the Coquitlam Classics 9-2 in the championship final.

The Classics had struck first but Langley had a five-run inning to seize control and not look back.

Langley also defeated Coquitlam 11-2 in the semifinals.

In the team’s other playoff games, they doubled the Cloverdale Fury 4-2 and then hammered the Kawston Koyotes 12-3.

The Xtreme finished the season — which began with a tournament in California back in January — with an impressive record of 55-18-4.

The team is made up of: the Langley Xtreme 99 are: Remy Brayshaw, Andria Coulbourn, Jennifer Delaney, Mackenzie Emerson, Taelor Griffiths, Britney Ingham, Sara Mior, Emily Morrison, Taylor Quechuck, Jordyn Scott, Calista Thirsk and Jessie Wright.

Coaches are Shawn Brayshaw, Bob Ingham, Lianne Scott, Christy Thompson and Montana Turnovitski.
