Cortez Chappell threw a complete game four-hit shutout while Jerod Barnik and Zach Mihic drove in three runs apiece as the Langley Blaze won for the eighth time in their past 10 games, 8-0.
Bill Germaine had the other two RBIs.
The Blaze defeated the visiting Coquitlam Reds on Thursday night at McLeod Park in B.C. Premier U18 Baseball League action.
The win, Langley's second straight shutout — and 11th of the season — gives the Blaze a 28-8 mark with a dozen games remaining. The Blaze are 1.5 games behind Nanaimo (23-6) for the regular season pennant.
Langley has a doubleheader in Parksville on Saturday (June 25) against the Royals (19-12) and a Sunday doubleheader at McLeod Park against the Victoria Eagles (7-22).
