Fraser Valley Thunderbirds’ Kaelen Anderson is tripped up by Valley West Hawks’ Ian Ross during B.C. Major Midget Hockey League action at the Langley Events Centre earlier this season.

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds continued their string of winning one of two weekend games with yet another split.

The Thunderbirds hosted the South Island Royals in Abbotsford over the weekend, winning 3-2 on Saturday before losing the rematch 4-0.

In all eight weekends this season, the team has failed to win both games, yet has never lost both contests, either.

It leaves the team with a 6-6-4 mark in the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League.

With the score tied at two in the third period, Langley’s Jonathan Stein buried the winner. Stein also had an assist in the game, while Aldergrove’s Baxter Anderson had a goal and an assist. Langley’s Logan Hunter had the other Thunderbirds goal.

Stein leads Fraser Valley with 14 points in 16 games.

The Royals bounced back to take game two thanks to a strong second period where they scored three times en route to the 4-0 win.

Fraser Valley hits the road this weekend for a pair of games in Nelson against the Kootenay Ice.
