Aquasonics, including Aldergrove and Langley members, capture bronze at US Open

The BC Aquasonics combo team – which includes Langley’s Cameron Blades and Emilie Sadler, as well as Aldergrove’s Amy Whitton – won the bronze medal at the US Open Synchronized Swimming Championships Saturday in Henderson, NV, scoring 76.5333 with its “Atlantis” routine.

“Bronze at the US Open topped off a very successful season for the BC Aquasonics,” head coach Susan Kemper said. “The Aquasonics push the boundaries of what is possible in synchronized swimming and the US Open is a great opportunity to showcase that talent, with teams from nine countries around the world competing at the event.”

Team members are Surrey residents Courtney Armstrong, Anna Seiler, Madyson Stickley, Erin Williams, Nancy Zhang, and Jessica Friesen, Langley athletes Cameron Blades and Emilie Sadler, Anmore’s Alexia Iten and Kalista Iten, Amy Whitton (Aldergrove), and Lani-Marie Carbonel (Coquitlam).

Olivia Zawadiuk of Coquitlam and Erin Williams of Surrey also competed in the senior solo events, placing sixth and eighth, respectively, in both the senior technical and senior free solo events.

The BC Aquasonics make up one of Canada’s oldest, largest, and most successful synchronized swimming clubs.
