The Vancouver Giants have an opening for an assistant coach after announcing Monday they have parted ways with Tyler Kuntz.
Kuntz worked behind the bench for the Western Hockey League Giants in the last two seasons, backing up former head coach Lorne Molleken in 2015-16 – replacing the fired Molleken for two games that season – and current bench boss Jason McKee.
The 38-year-old native of Lumsden, Sask., earlier played five seasons for the UBC Thunderbirds, from 1999 to 2004.
“The Giants would like to thank Kuntz for his dedication and commitment to the organization and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” the club said in a statement.
The Giants, who have missed the playoffs the last three seasons, are moving to find replacement promptly for Kuntz. The club says it will “be accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach immediately. Applications can be sent to info@vancouvergiants.com with the subject line “Application for Assistant Coach.”
