A stellar season was capped with a championship banner.
The Langley atom A1 Eagles — who won all three tournaments they entered this hockey season — needed a tiebreaker game, but came through when it counted, defeating Semiahmoo by a 3-1 score.
The game was played on March 3.
The two teams were competing in the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association atom A flight 1 playoffs.
The final four tournament was hosted by the Cloverdale Minor Hockey Association and the Eagles were the lowest-ranked of the four teams after a 13-5-0 regular season.
But Langley would go 2-0-1 in round robin, beating Abbotsford (12-3-3) 6-1 and Cloverdale (12-4-2) 4-2 and tying Semiahmoo (15-2-1) 5-5.
And since Semiahmoo also had a 2-0-1 record, the two teams hit the ice for a winner-take all showdown, with the Eagles soaring to a 3-1 victory.
