A last-second pass fell incomplete as the North Langley midget Kodiaks lost their regular season finale.
Trailing 22-15 against the North Surrey Bears on Saturday afternoon at McLeod Athletic Park, the Kodiaks final attempt to pull even hit the turf.
Darian Pritchard, with a convert from Sam Wegert, had the first North Langley touchdown, as the teams were tied at seven at half-time.
And after the Bears went ahead, Isaiah Okoli ran in both the touchdown and two-point convert attempt to give North Langley a 15-14 lead.
But North Surrey would tack on one more score for the victory.
Nick Lacroix, Yunjae Boo, Okoli and Max Joseph had strong games for the Kodiaks defence.
The two teams will meet in the semifinals on Nov. 20 at Surrey’s Bear Creek Park.
BANTAM
The North Langley Bears improved to 9-0 after rolling over the Chilliwack Giants 43-0.
The bantam football teams battled last Friday in Chilliwack.
Ethan Bernardin led the offence with more than 100 yards rushing and two scores while Nick Butler caught a pair of touchdown passes.
David Wegert and Kurtis Flynn were also on the receiving ends of touchdown passes.
Michael Huggan ran in one two-point conversion and connected with Jacob Ronald on another.
Ronil Chand led the defence with some big tackles and an interception, which he returned 60 yards to set up an early touchdown. Chand and Alex Ronald also each came up with an onside kick recovery.
JUNIOR BANTAM
The North Langley Bears used a dominating defence to deliver a 28-0 victory over the Meadow Ridge Knights. The junior bantam football teams clashed in wet and windy conditions on Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park.
And the Bears defence set the tone, coming up with seven turnovers on downs as well as four fumble recoveries (Ethan Holland, Jacob Deibert, Caleb Faust and Ryan Goesen) and an interception (Mathieu Gale).
Special teams came through with the game’s first touchdown when Jacob Evans returned a shanked punt deep in Meadow Ridge territory.
Kaleb Reemeyer would score a pair of rushing touchdowns while Jesse Tomica had the other. Kicker Tyson Hoy added a pair of converts.
Callum Middleton had the longest play from scrimmage for the Bears with a 37-yard run.
