The North Langley Bears bantam team advanced to the provincial finals with a thrilling 25-13 win over the Meadow Ridge Knights on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Macleod stadium before a large crowd.

The offense scored an early touchdown with a great run by Ethan Bertnardin as he split the Knights defense to punch the ball into the end zone. The Bears finished the first quarter ahead 10-0 after a field goal by David Wegert and never looked back after that. The Bears scored two more running touchdowns on the day, one each by Bernardin and Nick Butler and got a single point on a missed field goal.

The defense played a strong game and held the opposition to a minimal amount of chances on the day with huge tackles and great play by the defensive line.

The Bears have earned the chance to play for the provincial championship Sunday, Dec. 4 at McLleod stadium against the Surrey Tigers at 2:30 p.m.

Meanwhile the Langley Minor Football Stampeders will play the North Langley Kodiaks on Dec. 4 at McLeod Athletic Park, part of the 12-man provincial football championships.
