Not only did the North Langley peewee Bears improve to 4-0 on the season, but they have yet to yield a single point.
The team’s most recent win was a 46-0 road victory on Saturday over the Abbotsford Falcons Black at Rotary Stadium.
Kayden Bell and Vaughn Pinchin came up with interceptions while Rocco Langford, Kai Robinson, Joshua Hamelin and Aiden McMurty had big defensive stops.
Quarterback Owen Sieben threw a touchdown pass to Caleb Price while Levi Brecknell, Cameron Neal and Jordan Tomica each found the end zone along the ground.
Midget
After surrendering the game’s first points, the North Langley Kodiaks midget football team shut the door the rest of the way, defeating Coquitlam 30-7 on Saturday. The game was played at the Coquitlam Town Centre.
Samuel Wegert, Ryan Barthelson, Jared Slater and Drey Blair each scored a touchdown.
On defence, Isaiah Okoli snuffed out a drive with an interception on North Langley’s five-yard line and Eric Hawkins also came up with a fumble recovery.
The Kodiaks were helped by great field positions all game thanks to some long punt returns from Jonathan Chwaklinski and Darian Pritchard.
Bantam
Quarterback Isaiah Key threw a pair of touchdown passes as the North Langley Bears bantam team improved to 4-0 with a 32-0 win over the North Delta Longhorns on Saturday.
Michael Huggans and Alex Ronald caught a touchdown apiece from Keys while fullback Nicholas Butler scored a rushing touchdown and Ethan Bernardin had an 85-yard kick return touchdown. The rest of the points came from kicker David Wegert as well as a safety from the defence after Wegert’s punt pinned the Longhorns deep.
For the defence, Parker Robertson had a fumble recovery while Ethan Croome, Kevin Morrison, Taylor Fleming, Kurtis Flynn, Jacob Ronald and Ronil Chand had big games.
Junior Bantam
The North Langley Bears junior bantam suffered a 33-14 loss to the Chilliwack Giants Blue team last Friday night in a battle of unbeaten teams.
The game was played at Chilliwack’s Exhibition Stadium.
Mathieu Gale scored a 70-yard kick-off return touchdown for one score while the other major was on an 80-yard run from Mitchell Gibbs.
Tyson Hoy, with Jordan Williams as his older, added a two-point convert kick on the first touchdown.
On defence, Dallas Pattenden forced a fumble, which was recovered by Jesse Tomica. Both players, as well as Caleb Faustand and Connor Bernardin, also had a quarterback sack. And Seth Mangroo came through with several tackles while Gibbs had a great solo effort in preventing a touchdown.
Kaleb Reemeyer was chosen player of the game for North Langley by the Chilliwack coaches.
Atom
The North Langley Bears fell 38-0 to the Abbotsford Falcons Black in atom football on Saturday at Rotary Stadium.
The Bears defensive backfield of Colton Matheson, Vaan Stewart, Caden Martin and Evan Zhao did a good job of containing Abbotsford’s aerial attack.
Other first half highlights included Kyler Duffill delivering a big block to spring Samuel Sieben for a huge kick-off return.
North Langley had more success in the second half as quarterback Benjamin Evans worked out of the shotgun, completing a 20-yard pass and run with Damon Bernemann. Hunter Dickson had a solid half with some key blocks. Roman Langford also had a strong second half.
