After a pair of close losses the first two weeks of the season, the North Langley junior bantam Bears broke through for victory.

The Bears hammered the Meadow Ridge Knights 40-0 behind strong running from Zander Bailey and Pablo Wigwigan.

Quarterback Brett Christenson connected with receiver Andy Hanlon for a huge 50-yard pass play.

Ryan Barthelson and James Limoges anchored the defensive effort, with Barthelson also recovering a pair of onside kicks.

Marcus Stang took the opening kick-off 65 yards for a touchdown and the North Langley atom Bears never looked back, defeating the Meadow Ridge Knights 24-12.

Stang added another touchdown on a long run, while Callum Middleton added a five-yard touchdown score of his own.

Jun McLean sealed the victory with a late touchdown run of his own.

The defence also came up big, with both Keaghan Hurley and Jaxson Stebbings both recovering fumbles. And Jacob Evans and Chris Morrison made key tackles in the dying seconds of the first half to halt the Knights at the North Langley one-yard line.

Owen Sieben, Matthew Aasen, Jed Hurley and Jacob Deibert all had great tackles.

The Bears run game was also working well with Brian Pol, Jordan Williams, Mathieu Gale and Caleb Price all ripping off long runs.

Semir Hasic and Ronin Ziegler had some great blocks to spring long runs.

The North Langley peewee Bears dropped a 14-0 decision to the Meadow Ridge Knights.

It was an impressive defensive effort for the Bears, especially in the second half as they held the Knights to two points.

Cadeyrn Barthelson led the defence in tackles while Emerson Block and Joey Yeomans also had solid games. Brandon Brynjolfson held his own defensively and was the closest Bear to score, getting tackled just short of the goal line.

North Langley fell 21-0 to the Chilliwack Giants in bantam action.

The Giants scored all their points in the first half, as the Bears defence stepped it up in the second, with Colton Pierce and Brandon Sang both coming up with fumble recoveries.

Quarterback Kenzie Oram had a solid second half throwing the ball, nearly getting his team into the end zone, but receiver Taryn Taylor was tackled at the one as he stretched for the end zone.

Ian Canning and Darian Pritchard were effective in hauling in passes while Sang and David Nathan moved the chains along the ground.

The North Langley midget Bears could not overcome costly turnovers as they fell 31-0 to the Vancouver Trojans.

Several times, the Bears came close to scoring, but were done in by the turnovers.

Running back Mook Kim had a big game, rushing for more than 100 yards and also delivering several big kick returns.

Fullback Sebastian Joseph and quarterback Adrian Clements were also effective in moving the chains.

On defence, Eric Boomars, Alain Velo, Garrett Fredly and James Aalhus came up with big stops. Aalhus also had fumble recovery and a quarterback sack.
