The Thurston County Senators scored two runs in the top of the first inning and then hung on for a 2-1 victory over the Langley Senior Blaze.

The two teams were playing in the quarter-finals of a baseball tournament at Kelowna's Elks Stadioum over the weekend.

Jesse Peters threw a complete game five-hitter, but was tagged with the loss.

Jon Mihic had the lone Langley RBI against the Tacoma-based Senators squad.

Langley went 2-2 at the tournament with their other loss being a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Burnaby Bulldogs. The Blaze were guaranteed a spot in the playoff round as they had won their pool.

In their earlier two games, Langley edged the Seattle Studs 4-3 — thanks to a three-run home run from Scott Webster — and a 7-6 win over the Parkland White Sox.

In the second game, Mihic's seventh inning double scored Brooklyn Foster and snapped a 6-6 tie.

Foster finished 2-for-4 with a three-run home run.

Mike Krishce and Webster had the other RBIs.

Keenan Takatch picked up the win while Dillon Reynolds nailed down the save.

Against Seattle, Aaron Dick earned the win with Reynolds getting another save.
