A pair of one-run victories helped the Langley Blaze sweep the visiting Victoria Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
Playing their B.C. Premier Baseball League home debut, the U18 baseball team took game one 2-1 and then the rematch 3-2.
The Blaze also defeated the Abbotsford Cardinals 5-1 on Friday night at Abbotsford's Delair Park to start the season 3-0.
Nick Iverson pitched 6.2 innings in the weekend's final game, scattering four hits while striking out eight Eagles batters.
The offence was led by Travis Horanski, who hit a solo home run in the first inning.
And after Victoria tied the game at one in the third, Langley struck for two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
With Horanski on first base, Rhys Cratty hit a single and a pair of Victoria error s allowed him to score. And three batters later, Markus Gregson hit a single to score Cratty.
The Eagles would get one run back in the sixth inning and then get the tying run to second base in the seventh with two out. But Kyle Prather came on in relief and secured the final out for the save.
The first game saw all the runs scored in the first inning.
Victoria made it 1-0 but in the bottom half of the inning, Cratty crushed a two-run home run with Horanski on base.
Jake Polancic went the distance, allowing just three hits while striking out six for the win.
Against Abbotsford, Langley capitalized on four Cardinals errors to score five runs — four of them unearned — in the 5-1 victory.
Jaron Jeske led the offence with an RBI double while also scoring two runs himself.
Kyle Ross earned the win, allowing one earned run over seven innings while striking out nine.
Langley is back in action on Tuesday (April 19) when they host the White Rock Tritons.
