The Langley Blaze will look to silence the Vancouver Cannons.
The two B.C. Premier U18 Baseball League teams will meet in the quarter-finals this weekend (July 20 and 21) at McLeod Park in a best-of-three series.
The winner advances to the league's final four provincial championships the following weekend at Abbotsford's Delair Park.
Langley cruised to the regular season pennant with a 39-9 record.
The Cannons are the eighth seed after finishing at 24-24. And the team had to win their final regular season game just to get to the post-season. Had they lost on July 17, they would have required a one-game playoff with the Okanagan Athletics.
The teams split their four games this season.
Langley won 9-1 and 9-2 while Vancouver prevailed 2-1 and 10-9.
Two of the games were in April while the other two were in late June.
The Blaze led the league with a .342 batting average — the only team to hit above .300 — while scoring a league-high 397 runs (8.3 per game).
Langley also had a league-low 2.07 earned run average and opposing batters hit just .191 against Blaze pitchers. The next lowest batting average was .242.
Game times are noon and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. If necessary, the teams would play a deciding game on Sunday, also at McLeod Park.
