Blaze raising funds for former player's mom

While the Langley Blaze play on the field this week for their annual baseball tournament, the Blaze family faces a bigger fight off of it.

The mother of a former player is battling cancer and in an effort to help the family, the Blaze will be donating all proceeds from this weekend's admission and raffle sales at McLeod Park.

Typically, there is no charge to attend the games, but the money collected will be donated to the family to help with the mounting costs the family faces.

Tournament admission to the park will be $3 per game, or $10 for a weekend pass. There will also be gift baskets on display, which will be raffled off prior to Sunday's championship game.

The tournament, which gets underway on Thursday, features the Blaze's usual Premier Baseball League rivals from Abbotsford, North Delta and Victoria, as well as teams from Edmonton and Bellingham.

The championship game is scheduled for Sunday (June 5) at 12:30 p.m.
