Brookswood Bobcats Tayla Jackson looks to pass the ball against the Riverside Rapids during the Fraser Valley senior girls championship game at W.J. Mouat on Feb. 26. Jackson had 14 points and 20 rebounds on Wednesday as Brookswood won their opening game at the B.C. provincial championships in North Vancouver.

Seven three pointers from Jessie Brown — for a team-high 21 points — and monster effort on the boards from Tayla Jackson, who pulled down 20 rebounds to go with her 14 points, helped the Brookswood Bobcats move on to the quarter-finals.

The Bobcats opened play at the B.C. senior girls AAA championships with a convincing 84-28 win over the Prince George Polars on Wednesday (March 7) afternoon.

The tournament is being held at North Vancouver's Capilano College Sportsplex.

The Bobcats defence harassed Prince George all game long, allowing the Polars to reach double digits in a quarter just once. And even then, it was only 10 points.

Prince George also turned the ball over 33 times.

By comparison, Brookswood twice scored 20 points in a quarter, and a third time hit 30.

Amber Kavanagh chipped in with 15 points for the Bobcats.

Brookswood faces the Yale Lions on March 8 at 8:45 p.m.
