Bronze, Canadian record for Dolfo in New Zealand

Braedon Dolfo won bronze for Canada in New Zealand at the International Paralympic Committee Athletics world championships.

Braedon Dolfo returned to Canada with more than he packed for his trip to New Zealand.

The Langley teen won a bronze medals at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics world championships, which came to an end on Saturday in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Dolfo, a student at Langley Secondary and member of the Langley Mustangs Track and Field Club, earned bronze in the high jump with a jump of 1.83m. The height also established a new Canadian record.

He also ran anchor for Canada's 4x100 relay team, which just missed making the podium, placing fourth.

Dolfo is a visually impaired athlete and is one of the finalists for Sport BC's disability athlete of the year. The winner will be announced Feb. 24.
