When the Langley-based Vancouver Giants host their 2018 playoff rivals, the Victoria Royals, on Saturday, December 8th, at the Pacific Coliseum, they’ll be doing so wearing limited edition, one-game only Buddy the Elf themed jerseys.
It’s in honour of the annual Teddy Bear Toss.
“[It] is one of the most highly anticipated games of the season and the Vancouver Giants are always trying to set the bar higher when it comes to the Teddy Bear Toss experience for our fans,” said Giants vice-president of operations and assistant general manager, Peter Toigo. “Who better than a team full of Buddy the Elves to get everybody into the holiday spirit?”
All game-worn Buddy the Elf jerseys will be autographed and will be available to purchase by online auction until December 12 at 1 p.m. Proceeds from these jerseys will go towards the CKNW Kids’ Fund.
All fans attending Saturday’s Chevrolet Teddy Bear Toss game are encouraged to bring new stuffed toys, toques, mittens, and scarves with them to the game. When the Giants score their first goal of the game all items can then be thrown onto the ice. From there, all donations are gathered up, loaded into bins, the Fanboni and brand new Chevrolet vehicles and are donated to various children’s charities within the Lower Mainland.

On Sunday, the Giants won their sixth win in a row, downing the Tri-City Americans 4-2 at the Langley Events Centre.
The two teams also played the night before at the Pacific Coliseum with Vancouver winning 5-2.
The Giants have now scored 35 third-period goals, their most productive 20 minutes.
“I think they have a lot of confidence in each other and the game plan and there really is no fear coming into the third period right now,” head coach Michael Dyck said.
“We just focus on our game and now the results will follow.”
With the victories, the Giants sit at 20-6-2-0 and continue to lead the Western Hockey League’s B.C. Division.
