Surrendering four goals on their first four shots was too much to overcome for the Langley Thunder.

The senior A lacrosse team fell behind 4-0 three minutes in and while they battled back to make it a one-goal game later in the period, could not pull even.

The end result was a 16-9 loss to the Maple Ridge Burrards on May 31 at the Langley Events Centre. The loss dropped Langley’s record to 0-3 on the season.

After the Thunder scored three straight to make it 4-3, the Burrards went on a 3-0 run — including two goals in the final 18 seconds — to lead 7-3 at intermission.

Langley would battle back to make to make it 8-6 in the second before Maple Ridge closed on another 4-0 run to put the game out of reach for good, leading 12-6 after 40 minutes.

Both teams used the power-play to their advantage with the Thunder going 4-for-6 and Maple Ridge scoring on three of their seven chances.

Langley will look for their first win when they host the Nanaimo Timbermen on June 7 at the LEC. Game time is 7 p.m.
