’Cats fall to Hawks in final

The Brookswood Bobcats could not get their offence on track, falling 68-54 in the championship final on Saturday.

The Bobcats, ranked No. 1 in the province heading into the weekend, fell to the third-ranked W.J. Mouat Hawks.

The two senior girls’ basketball teams were playing for top spot at the prestigious Top 10 shootout tournament, hosted by Coquitlam’s Centennial Secondary School.

Brookswood opened with a 91-42 win over New Westminster, defeated Handsworth 79-47 in the quarter-finals and then topped the Claremont Spartans 82-72 in the semifinals.

The Bobcats’ Brittney Church and Zoey Haramboure were named first team tournament all-stars.
