The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) British Columbia Series came to a successful conclusion with the Prodigy One-Day Series at Pagoda Ridge Golf Club on Oct, 6.

A full field of junior golfers battled a great new course to be crowned champions in four different age divisions. This event was the final event nationally sponsored by Prodigy Headwear, a division of G&G Golf Company who continues to generously support the MJT.

Victor Baptiste, 17, of Oliver, BC, and Austin Hughes, 17, of Delta, BC shared top spot shooting 75 in the MJT Boys 17-19 division, with Baptiste winning on retrogression.

“It feels amazing to win two in a row” said Baptiste, “all I was thinking was don’t get scared or regret anything.”

In the Boys 14-16 Division, Ian Kim of Surrey, BC claimed top spot with Lawren Rowe of Victoria, with both players shooting 73.  Kim won via retrogression, where he “won against a tough field going against great players” was quoted about his win.

In the Girls Division, 13-year old Ashley Cai of Vancouver, BC played outstanding golf firing 76, and “was very excited (coming down the stretch).  I just wanted to know how the other girls did!”.  13-year old Roy Kang of North Vancouver, BC was low in the Boys 13 & Under Division (69), where he “had 4 birdies and one bogie out there”.

In the Mr. Lube Long Drive Contest, winners in each division were Roy Kang of North Vancouver, Kamyar Yamini of Vancouver, Victor Baptiste of Oliver, and Rachelle Nielsen of Summerland, and the Sundog Eyewear Skills Contest winners were Jae Wook-Lee of Langley, Robert Murphy of Vancouver, Chris McEachran-Law of Coldstream, and Rachelle Nielsen of Summerland. The Golftown Comeback Awards were won by Dillon Cooper of West Vancouver, Jordan Morford of Abbotsford, Scott Merriam of Cranbrook, and Rachelle Nielsen of Summerland.

This is the final stop on the 2012 schedule for MJT British Columbia, where players have battled all year gaining valuable Cleveland Order of Merit points to gain an invitation to the season ending MJT Boston Pizza National Tour Championship at The Legacy Golf Resort from November 16-18.
