Team Tardi is set to represent Canada at the 2017 VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships in Gangneung, South Korea.

The team is led by skip Tyler Tardi, a Cloverdale resident. He is joined on the team by his brother Jordan (second), lead Nick Meister, vice-skip Sterling Middleton, coach/dad Paul Tardi and alternate Nicholas Rabl. They represent the Langley and Royal City curling clubs.

As Team B.C., they won the 2017 Canadian Junior Curling Championship title with a 9-7 victory over Team Ontario on Jan. 29. CLICK HERE to read more.

Team Tardi flew to Gangneung earlier this week, and their schedule begins tonight (Wednesday) with a game against Sweden (9 p.m. start, Pacific time).

"After a long day of travelling - 11 hours by plane and another 3.5 hour bus ride, we made it to the beautiful Yangyang Sol Beach Hotel & Resort," reads a post on the team's website.

"After our breakfast, which consisted of both Western and Korean cuisine, we unpacked for a bit and then headed to the venue in Gangneung for the official team meeting, photos and our practice ice. While we were at the arena for our pre-event practice, our parents put together some great goodie bags for our competitors. The arena in Gangneung was beautiful, bright and the most incredible curling venue that we've ever played in.  The athletes that will represent Canada at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang are very lucky!"

The World Juniors tournament is the official test event for the 2018 Winter Olympic curling competition, which will be staged in the same building in Gangneung.

The team's other opponents this week include Korea, China, Italy, and the U.S.
