It was a painful walk-off victory but it got the job done for the Langley Blaze.

With the bases loaded and the score tied at four in the bottom of the seventh inning, Daniel Martin was hit by a pitch to bring in Gus Wilson for the winning run.

The end result was a 5-4 Blaze victory over the visiting Whalley Chiefs on Tuesday (April 18) at McLeod Athletic Park. Langley improved to 4-2 on the BC Premier Baseball League season.

The Blaze led 3-1 after one inning with Rhys Cratty belting a two-run double and then later scoring himself after stealing third and coming home on an error from the catcher.

The Chiefs struck back for three runs in the top of the second inning and led 4-3 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Cratty hit an RBI double to score Dawson Gray.

Michael Stovman earned the win for Langley with a complete game, allowing two earned runs and striking out six.

Langley is back in action on April 20 when they host the Abbotsford Cardinals. Game time is 6 p.m. at McLeod Athletic Park.
