Members of the Fraser Valley Diving Club made sure to keep their share of medals at home in Langley.

Club members combined to capture nine medals as they hosted more than 80 young divers from B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan at the novice national championships.

They were held April 28 to 30 at the Walnut Grove Aquatic Centre.

“The hard work of all involved is so worth the smiles and accomplishments the divers had,” says Lisa Breure, the meet manager.

Leading the way was Sarah Butt, who won bronze in both the 1m and 3m events in women’s group B action. She also teamed with Valentia Davydova to claim another bronze in the women’s synchronized diving on the 3m springboard.

Grayce VanderWerf (women’s group C) won silver in both the 1m and 3m events and Ella Davidson (women’s group B) won silver in the 3m event.

And seven-year-old Kate Roeck won silver medals in both the 1m and 3m under-9 categories.

The club members are competing this weekend at the BC summer provincial championships in Victoria.
