The Langley Jr. Thunder did not let a potentially devastating loss derail their turnaround.
The Thunder lost 12-8 to the visiting Nanaimo Jr. Timbermen on Saturday at the Langley Events Centre, the first victory of the season for Nanaimo.
But Langley did not let that loss snowball into a losing streak, as they quickly bounced back, doubling up the Burnaby Lakers 12-6 on Sunday at the Bill Copeland Arena.
The results improve the Thunder to 5-5 in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League standings. They have also won five of six games since starting 0-5.
In Sunday's victory, Brett Dobray continued his ascent up the scoring leaders, with another three goals and three assists.
He now leads with 20 goals in nine games and is fourth in scoring with 36 points.
Nick Stone also had a big game with a goal and four helpers.
Spencer Evans had a hat trick while Matt Messenger, Zack Porter, Brandon Bull and William Vanden Hooven each scored once. Bull also had a pair of assists.
Ryley Brown made 39 saves to pick up the victory.
The night before against Nanaimo, the score was tied at six early in the third period, but the Timbermen closed things out with six of the final eight goals to win 12-8.
Bull led the way for the Thunder with two goals and three assists, while Vanden Hooven and Spencer Evans scored twice apiece.
James Rahe and Messenger each had a goal and an assist.
Langley is back in action on June 7 when they host New Westminster (7-3). Game time is 8 p.m. at the LEC.
