A street-style skateboard competition drew 40 competitors to a Langley church parking lot, all for a good cause.
The parking lot at Mountain View Alliance Church (7640 200 St.) was transformed into a skateboarding venue as competitors looked to wow the judges on the quarter-pipes, fun-boxes, flat-bars and blast ramps.
Each competitor had their own timed run and will be judged accordingly to trick difficulty, creativity and consistency on the course.
The event was run by Love Bomb Skateboarding and sponsored by Play4Life, an organization committed to creating safe, fun events for teenagers with the purpose of empowering them to make a difference both in their community and their world.
The proceeds raised at the event will be split between helping send kids who can't afford skateboard camp, and helping stop the exploitation of children in Cambodia.
The group is organizing one more event this summer, on Aug. 24, at Abbotsford's McMillan Youth Park.
