Vancouver Stealth sniper Rhys Duch was named the National Lacrosse League's first star of the week after an eight-point performance on March 29.

An eight-point night has earned Vancouver Stealth sniper Rhys Duch the National Lacrosse League’s first star of the week award for week 14.

Duch had four goals and four assists in the Stealth’s 12-8 victory over the Buffalo Bandits on March 29 at the Langley Events Centre.

He also surpassed the 500 point mark for his NLL career.

Duch is the team’s leading scorer with 30 goals and 64 points in 12 games.

The Stealth scored 19 seconds in and never trailed, leading 9-5 at the half.

"We talked about how important a quick start would be and we answered the bell," Duch said.

"From our coaching staff right down to the captains, we were ready to go."

The win improved Vancouver to 4-9 and they sit a half-game behind the Colorado Mammoth (5-9) for the final playoff spot in the NLL's West Division.

"It's the first win of many, hopefully," Duch said.

'We did a lot of things right but there's still room for improvement.

'Overall, it was our most collective full game."

They host the Toronto Rock on Saturday (April 5) at the LEC. Game time is 7 p.m.
