Eagles golden once again

Third tournament victory in three tries for Langley atom hockey team

Make it a perfect three-for-three for the Langley Eagles.

For the third time in as many tries, the Langley atom A1 hockey team has been crowned tournament champions.

The most recent victory came over the weekend as the Langley squad won gold at the Coquitlam Atom A Pup hockey tournament.

The Eagles beat the host Coquitlam A1 Chiefs 4-0 in Monday’s championship final.

Langley had finished second in their pool with two wins in three games, pounding the North Shore Winter Club A2 Winterhawks 15-0, losing 3-2 to the Ridge Meadows A1 Rustlers and edging the South Delta A1 Storm by that same 3-2 score.

The Eagles beat the Vancouver A1 Spirit 8-3 in the quarter-finals and then scored six unanswered goals in the third period to snap a 3-3 tie and beat the Port Moody A1 Panthers 9-3 in the semifinals.
