Trevor Alcos scored on a seventh-inning error for the winning run as the Langley Junior Blaze won for an eighth straight game to take over top spot in the B.C. Premier Baseball League.

Alcos had opened the inning with a single and stole second base. Jayden Knight then reached first base on the error with Alcos rounding third and scoring as the Blaze beat the Whalley Junior Chiefs 6-5 on Wednesday night at McLeod Park.

The error was the 10th of the game, as each team committed five.

Jacob McDermott earned the win, pitching the final 2.1 innings.

Kyle Pfeifer had pitched the first 4.2 innings, allowing five runs, but just one was earned.

Langley improved to 18-5 as they head into weekend action.

The team will be in Victoria on June 18 to face the Junior Mariners before hosting the Abbotsford Junior Cardinals on June 19 at McLeod Park.

The Blaze hold a one-game lead over Abbotsford (19-6).
