Langley United U16 girls soccer team has had an impressive 2016/17 campaign

The Langley United Falcons continue to soar to new heights.

The U16 girls Division 1 soccer team captured yet another title over the weekend, taking top spot at the Slurpee Cup in Kamloops.

They are also yet to lose a game.

The victory is the fifth title for the soccer club as they have were crowned league champs, Fraser Valley champions and Coastal Cup champions. They also won a North Shore tournament back in October.

The Falcons are 25-0-5 in league and qualifying games, with 106 goals for compared to just 21 surrendered.

“An amazing group of athletic girls, many who are multi-sport athletes,” said coach Cory Couture. ‘They train hard, work hard and win as a team.”

The bulk of the team has played together since they were kids.

And they are led by their top goal scorer, Brooke Mussche, who has been named the BC Youth Soccer Top Youth Female Athlete for 2017, and goalkeeper Laura Couture.

Mussche leads a speedy group up front and Couture plays behind a strong defensive line. Couture has 10 shutouts on the season and a goals against average of 0.84.

Up next for the Falcons will be the B.C. soccer provincial championships, which run July 6 to 9 in South Surrey.
