One season after a pair of North Langley community football teams failed to win a game they both showed remarkable turnarounds, advancing to their respective league championship games.

But the Cinderella story ended on Saturday as both the North Langley atom and junior bantam teams fell short in the Valley Community Football League championship games.

The atom Bears lost 24-0 to the Abbotsford Falcons, the only team to beat them all season. North Langley finished the season 7-3.

North Langley was down 18-0 at the half but did manage to tighten things up defensively in the second, allowing just one more touchdown.

Jaxon Stebbings led the defence with several tackles, including one to prevent a two-point conversion.

On offence, Marcus Stebbings had several long runs, including a 35-yarder, but the Bears failed to find the end zone.

In the junior bantam game, North Langley led 20-12 early in the third quarter but the Abbotsford Falcons Black scored the final 16 points to win 28-20.

The Bears tried to rally for the tying score but on their last drive, Brett Christensen completed a pass to Keaghan Hurley, but the receiver was tackled short of the first down marker.

Zander Bailey scored all three North Langley touchdowns — including on long runs of 65 and 50 yards. He also made several tackles on defence and recovered a fumble.

Yun-Boo also had a solid game for the defence, breaking up several passes.

North Langley finished the season with a record of 7-3-1.
