A pair of Langley competitors took home prizes at the Calgary Stampede last week.

Travis Rempel, 29, won the open division final of the cutting horse competition.

Rempel took the Champion title aboard This Cats Max, a seven-year-old gelding owned by Doug and Angie Wiens of Yarrow.

He also finished third in the division on another horse, Suzie Blue, owned by Abbotsford’s James Mann.

Cutting is an equestrian competition in which a horse and rider work as a team to demonstrate a horse’s athleticism and ability to handle cattle.

Larissa Price, 18,  finished second in the cutting competition for the youth showcase, earning a $1,500 scholarship for her efforts.

Price was riding One Time Opus, who is owned by Harland Radomske.

At the 2013 Calgary Stampede, Price teamed up with her mother, Sandy, and Laura Bird, to take top spot in the team penning competition.
