The Langley Jr. Thunder fell short after the Adanacs went on a scoring spree.

For 55 minutes, the Langley Thunder played well Tuesday night at the Langley Events Centre.

Unfortunately, a five-minute lapse proved too much to overcome for the Junior B lacrosse team.

The Thunder had rallied from a 4-1 deficit to tie the score midway through the second period against the visiting Coquitlam Junior Adanacs. But the Adanacs reeled off four goals in 4:06 to take the lead for good in what became an 11-7 victory in BC Junior Tier 1 Lacrosse League action.

“We put in a good effort but unfortunately we had a couple of lapses,” said Langley head coach Kris Bryde. “We are doing a lot of the little things but we need that 60-minute effort.”

The teams traded goals in the opening moments with Taylor Dudlets getting Langley’s first score before Coquitlam scored three straight to close the first period. Langley would respond with goals from Josh Bramely, Chase Moore and Kyle Brunsch to pull even, but just 42 seconds later, an Adanacs goal sparked a 4-0 run.

Nathan Lavigne got one back for the Thunder in the final minute of the period before Coquitlam stretched the lead to 11-5. Moore and Trevayne Hunter pulled Langley to within four with 5:11 to go but the team could not capitalize on a 95-second two-man advantage to get any closer.

Moore led the Thunder as he had a hand in six of the team’s seven goals, finishing with four helpers to go along with his pair of scores. Hunter had a goal and three assists and Dudlets and Jordan Daniel finished with two assists apiece.

The loss dropped Langley to 5-7 while Coquitlam improved to 10-3.

Bryde’s message from his team was to keep focusing.

“We are a young team, so we need to take every experience, good or bad, and learn from it,” he said.

Next up for the squad is a visit to New Westminster’s Queens Park Arena on Friday (June 15).
