Natalie Hu and the rest of the Langley Flippers Swim Club are celebrating their 50th anniversary this season.

It’s official, summer swim club has begun.

The Langley Flippers Swim Club participated in its first meet of the season over the May long weekend while playing host to the Haney Neptunes Aquatic Club.  The Hands Across the Fraser Meet was held at Al Anderson Memorial Pool and was well attended with many swimmers eager to take the plunge into the pool for the first competition of the year.

The season is shaping up to be an exciting one for the Flippers. The club will be hosting the Langley Invitational Meet at Al Anderson pool over the Canada Day long weekend which is expected to attract over 450 swimmers from the Fraser Valley. Also, the 2013 Fraser Valley Regionals will be hosted by the Langley Flippers, August 3 to 5.

This year also marks an important milestone for the summer swim club as it celebrates over 50 years in Langley. Club President Tracy Cramer said that, “The Club continues to strive to provide its swimmers with an opportunity to improve their swimming skills while enjoying the environment that a team sport provides”.

Special events and festivities will be taking place and as the club celebrates 50 years, many Langley swimmers can reflect on a time when they too were a Langley Flipper, eager to get that ‘best time’.
