Two goals and an assist from Jarrett Fontaine helped the Trinity Western Spartans skate to a 4-1 victory.
The Spartans were hosting the Victoria Vikes on Saturday afternoon at the Langley Events Centre, breaking open a scoreless game with three second-period goals.
It was TWU’s final home game as they close out the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League season with a pair of road games this weekend.
The Spartans improved to 13-5-0-2 on the season.
Fontaine scored the first two while Florian Niedermaier had the other goal in the period.
The Vikes would score late in the third but Andrew Wheeler rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal.
"I thought in the second and third periods, we did what we have been working on in practice," said Spartans coach Barret Kropf.
"It's nice to see the guys putting it all together and it's nice to get back on a winning streak. It's about playing simple hockey. There was nothing fancy about today at all. We went to the generic section of the library and pulled out the most generic plays that we possibly could for our power play and penalty kill and just kept things simple.
“We knew we had to keep it simple and maybe that's the key, which is probably a good message for everyone including us as coaches."
The team plays the Eastern Washington Eagles on Feb. 24 and 25 to close out the regular season.
