Fort Langley Canoe Club well represented on Team BC

Four local athletes among 40 named to Canoe Kayak BC provincial team

A quartet of local paddlers have been named to the Canoe Kayak BC provincial team.

Lauryn Cheung, Meghan Cheung, Zaffia Laplante and Elliot Hoyt were among the 40 athletes named to the roster on Nov. 30.

All four are members of the Fort Langley Canoe Club and are coached by Emily Raymond.

Athletes were selected based on their results from the past season including national team selection, BC performance standard or nomination by the Coach’s Technical Committee. The complete selection criteria is available on the CKBC website.

The CKBC performance program recognizes and supports athletes who have a potential to make junior, U23 and senior development, and national teams. They have also shown a commitment to training to achieve these goals.

The team members and their coaches receive sport science resources, participation in training camps and support for various regattas, trials and championships.
