For what it is worth, the Langley Fundamental Titans can take solace in knowing the team that knocked them out in the semifinals went on to win the Fraser Valley championship banner.
The Titans were the top seed in the eight-team draw for the Grade 8/9 boys Fraser Valley soccer tournament.
And after winning their quarter-final matchup 2-1 in penalty kicks over No. 8 Panorama Ridge, the Titans lost 1-0 to the Queen Elizabeth Royals in the semifinals last week (Nov. 12) at Willoughby Community Park.
The Royals scored the game's lone goal off a corner kick midway through the second half.
The Titans did rebound to win the third-place game on Monday (Nov. 17), 1-0 over the Archbishop Carney Stars.
Langley Fundamental played all three of their Fraser Valley games at Willoughby Community Park. The team also went 6-0-0 during the regular season, scoring 36 goals and conceding just five as they dominated the Langley/Abbotsford division.
In the first-place game at Cloverdale Athletic Park on Monday, the No. 4 Royals beat No. 2 Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers 3-2.
