Walnut Grove loses to eventual champion Oak Bay in quarter-finals

Unfortunately for the Walnut Grove Gators, their one loss came to the eventual champions.

The Gators fell 82-57 to the Oak Bay Bays in Friday morning’s quarter-finals at the 2017 Tsumura Basketball Invitational at the Langley Events Centre.

It was Walnut Grove’s lone blemish in four games while the Bays went 4-0 to capture the TBI title.

Oak Bay defeated Holy Cross 86-68 in Saturday’s championship final while the third-place game saw the WJ Mouat Hawks beat the Terry Fox Ravens 71-58.

Walnut Grove bounced back from their loss to Oak Bay to down the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers 100-92 in the fifth/sixth-place game.

The Gators beat the Byrne Creek Bulldogs 88-82 in the opening round game.
