Great eight for Langley Rams

The Langley Rams will head into Saturday’s B.C. Football Conference semifinal match-up against the visiting Kamloops Broncos with a lineup chock-full of all-stars.

This was made official on Monday, Oct. 13, when the BCFC announced its all-stars for the 2014 regular season.

The junior Rams – who finished second in the BCFC with a 7-3 record – had a conference-high eight players named as all-stars, while the regular season champion Okanagan Sun (9-1) have seven players named.

In total, 26 players were named as all-stars. 

Rams’ offensive all-stars

Offensive lineSpencer Lang and Jamie Wandell.

Receivers: Daniel English – 39 catches, 862 yards, and nine touchdowns.

Defensive all-stars

Defensive line: Dylan Roper – 11 tackles, seven assists, 10 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one knockdown; and Alex Agnoletto – 23 tackles, 15 assists, and four sacks.

Linebackers: Ethan Schulz – 23 tackles, 14 assists, four sacks, one forced fumble, four fumble recoveries, one touchdown, and one interception.

Defensive backs: John Beckerleg – 16 tackles, three assists, five interceptions, and one touchdown.

Place kicker: Steve Thomas (second consecutive year) – 19-24 in field goals, longest of 44 yards, 79.2 per cent.

Thomas led the BCFC in scoring with 109 points, nine more than Okanagan kicker Thomas Huber.

FINAL WHISTLE: The Rams/Broncos BCFC semifinal kicks off at 4 p.m. at McLeod Stadium. Admission is at the door.
