A Langley hockey team will be bringing home provincial gold from a tournament in Invermere.

The team bus was coming down from Invermere to Langley on Thursday, and was expected to arrive in the Colossus Theatre parking lot between 6-7 p.m. across from the Sportsplex.

Anyone who wants to welcome back the provincial champs is welcome to attend to greet the boys and their coaches and parents.

On Wednesday night, the Bantam A4 Langley Eagles won the provincial championships. They went undefeated over 16 games.

Langley Minor Hockey Association president Kevin Green congratulated the boys on their big win, calling it one of the most incredible seasons he has seen a team put together.

“I know there were some challenges throughout the season and that things didn’t exactly go as planned early on,” Green said in a message to the team and their families. “However, the way your team rallied around each other and came together at the right time says a lot about the character of these young men and the support of you parents.”

While Langley teams have come close to winning the provincial banner, only twice has a local team gone the distance, and none have won in recent years.

“You have done us proud,” said Green.
