Hayden Painting tops among teams at Sun Run

Langley's Hayden Painting took top spot in the team division at the Vancouver Sun Run. Langley’s Hayden Painting took top spot in the team category at the annual Vancouver Sun Run.

The team was first with an average time of 35:17 and an overall time of 5:52.41 in the 10-km race on Sunday to win the corporate category.

Leading the way was owner Ryan Hayden who finished second in his age category (men’s 30-34) with a time of 31:42. That also placed him 20th overall among all male entries.

The team is made up of Hayden, Mike Buikema, Graeme Wells, Brent Corbitt, Chris Dalhuisen, Eli Mara, Daniel Pessing, Marcel Hewamudalige, Melissa Hayden, Theo Hunt, Mark Wilkie, Mike Stewart, Kevan Reeve, Ryan Rickards, and Mitch McDougall.

In the individual results, Hayden was one of four Langley runners to place second in their age category while another came fifth.

Declan White was second in the men’s 19-24 age group with a time of 29:58, which was good for fifth overall in the 10-km race and Tyler De Jong (33:34) was second in the men’s 16 to 18 age group and 44th overall.

Fiona Benson was second in the women’s 19 to 24-age group with a time of 35:49. She was 12th among all female competitors.

And Scott Stewart was third in the men’s 60-64 category with a time of 41:21.

White, De Jong and Benson all run with the Trinity Western Spartans cross-country team.
