A team of 25 represented the Langley Olympians Swim Club very well at the B.C. AAA long course championships at Victoria's Saanich Commonwealth Place earlier this month.
The meet featured four days of the top swimmers from around the province competing and the Olympians returned with a dozen medals, as well as several qualifying times for the upcoming age group national championships.
The Olympians finished seventh as a team.
Bailey Herbert led the way with medals of each colour — gold in the 11 and under 100 breast and 200 breast, silver in the 200 fly and bronze in the 200 IM — as well as three age group national qualifying times. She will now swim at six events at the Canadian national championships.
Hugh McNeill also found the podium multiple times in the boys 11 and under division. McNeill won gold in the 200 back, silver in the 400 free and a pair of bronze medals in the 100 back and 200 fly.
McNeill also won a silver and two more bronze medals in relay events.
In the 12 and under 400 medley relay, McNeill teamed with Brayden Kells, Joshua Kim and Ryan Hunter to place second. The quartet also won bronze in the 12 and under 200 medley relay.
And the team of Kim, Kells, Bryce Dong and McNeill finished third int he 12 and under 200 free relay event.
Renae Ledoux won gold in the girls 14/15 100 breast and Chelsea Borrowdale finished third in the 14/15 girls 100 breast event.
In addition to the medals, Kim set club records in the 50 breast, 100 breast, 200 breast and 200 IM events.
And the teams of Kim, Kells, Dong and McNeill (200 free relay) and McNeill, Kells, Kim and Hunter (400 medley relay) also set club records.
And 11-year-old Dylan Thomas, competing at his first AAA championships, managed personal bests in all of his events.
