Herbert nabs eight medals to lead Olympians

Lanlgey's Bailey Herbert won five gold and three silver medals at the Swim BC long course AAA championships.

Bailey Herbert led the medal charge for the Langley Olympians, winning five gold and three silver medals.

The Langley swim club sent 19 members to the Swim BC long course AAA championships.

The swimmers combined to win 15 medals: six gold, six silver and three bronze.

Herbert, who is 13, was in the girls 12/13 division and was tops in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke events, as well as in the 200 and 400 individual medley events. She finished second in the 200 butterfly and the 400 and 800 freestyle events.

Joshua Kim, 14, also won multiple medals, taking top spot in the boys 14/15 100 breaststroke and silver medals in the 50 and 200 breaststroke events.

Josie Field (girls 14/15) won silver in the 200 butterfly and Hugh McNeill (boys 12/13) won bronze in the 200 backstroke. And the team of Sevi Parr, Mia Goretic, Danika Bedard and Selina Schmelcher won bronze medals in both the girls 12 and under 4x50 freestyle and 4x100 freestyle relay events.
