Junior Blaze burn Chiefs in extra innings

The Langley Junior Blaze scored four runs in the seventh inning to force extra innings and then won it in the eighth when Shayne Clarke scored on a Whalley Junior Chiefs error.

Langley defeated the Chiefs 6-5 on July 30 at Whalley Athletic Park.

Bayley Germain led the Blaze offence with a pair of RBIs while Andre Pelletier drove home another run. He is tied for the league lead with 34 RBIs.

Jordan Atkinson picked up the win, pitching the final five innings, allowing just one unearned run on two hits while striking out eight.

Langley (35-8), which has clinched the best record in the league, closes the regular season on Thursday (Aug. 2) when they host the North Shore Junior Twins at McLeod Park. Game time is 3 p.m.
