Langley U16 baseball team heads into regular season finale with first place locked down

The Langley Junior Blaze clinched their second consecutive B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League regular season championship.

The U16 baseball team swept their doubleheader against the White Rock Junior Tritons on Sunday at South Surrey Athletic Park. The victories improved Langley to 34-8 with two games to go in the regular season.

The Blaze won the opener 8-7 in extra innings with Matthew Reston's single in the eighth inning scoring Colin McMaster.

Mitchell Kennedy delivered a one-two-three eighth inning for the victory.

Andre Pelletier drove in a pair of runs for Langley and also finished with three hits.

Game two was a blowout as the Blaze hammered the Tritons 18-2.

Justin Lawrence led the offence with three hits and three RBIs, while Pelletier and Steven Young drove in a pair apiece.

Kyle Ross earned the win on the mound, improving to 9-1. He allowed just a pair of base hits over five innings.

Langley plays at the Whalley Junior Chiefs on July 30 before closing the regular season on Aug. 2 against the North Shore Junior Twins.
